SolarEdge SE 12.5k three-phase Smart inverter
In the further development of traditional solar systems, SolarEdge® designers can record significant results.

SolarEdge engineers have developed a solution that can significantly increase the energy production of traditional photovoltaic systems by up to 6–35%. Thanks to computer control, shading, heating, contamination and power differences between solar modules on the strings can be balanced.

While in traditional systems, the so-called strings consisting of solar panels connected in series can usually be 14-25 modules “long” (250 Wp), in the SolarEdge optimized solution, the number of modules connected in series can be up to 45-60. This is important because this way the performance is more balanced and fewer current converters and inverters are required. Last but not least, due to the reduced number of strings, a lot of solar cables can be saved.

It is important to know that in the case of SolarEdge technology, the optimization solution has moved the system control from the string level to the solar module level. So, unlike the usual method, it is not the inverter that performs the operating point tracking, but the DC/DC converter located on the back of the solar modules. Thanks to this, the performance of each module can be monitored, so we can receive notification of any possible decrease in the performance of the solar modules, which also facilitates the maintenance of the photovoltaic system.

The optimization system also allows modules with different orientations/tilts, different powers or brands to be placed within a string by utilizing more space (even by using periodically shaded surfaces).
